Composite Bonding & Contouring

Restore and Repair- Simply and Quickly

Composite bonding is a fast and cost effective way to improve your smile, particularly if you have chipped, gapped, cracked or discoloured teeth. As well as being a superb solution for damaged teeth it is a great alternative to veneers and can also be used to fill spaces between teeth and even change their shape.

In order to achieve your desired perfect smile, a dental makeover requires detailed planning and extensive knowledge in order to achieve your desired look.

Here at North Hill, we take a patient-focused approach to ensure we fully understand your needs.

A smile makeover can involve a combination of restorations with teeth-whitening or a full makeover including all of the front teeth.

The Process

How Bonding and Contouring Works

First, your North Hill dentist will help you select the shade of resin that suits you. They will then very gently and lightly roughen the tooth surface and apply a conditioning liquid to help the bonding material stick securely to the surface. Then, once the bonding material is in place, ultraviolet light is used to harden it so it can be polished and shaped- all in about an hour’s time!

FAQs

Does bonding and contouring hurt?
No at all. In fact, unlike fillings, veneers or other cosmetic treatments, your dentist will not remove any part of your tooth so there is no need for any anaesthetic or numbing gel. It is completely pain free and fast.
If your teeth are healthy and strong and you’re simply looking for a cosmetic solution there is a very good chance that bonding and contouring is perfect for you. However, if you suffer from an overbite or underbite that affects your smile, bonding will not correct this and you may need a more in-depth treatment such as orthodontics.
Compared to the cost of crowns and veneers, bonding and contouring can be a very cost effective option. The treatment is also far less intrusive and invasive since material is being added to your tooth, rather than altered or removed.
