Multiple Dental Implants

An Alternative to Bridges

Having multiple missing teeth used to mean getting a denture or a bridge to fill the gap.
By having the multiple implant treatment at North Hill Dental, you benefit from a long-lasting tooth replacement treatment that looks, feels and acts almost exactly like your natural teeth.

Multiple Implants For An Even Bigger Impact

Unlike the more traditional teeth replacement treatments such as dentures or bridges, implants are self-supporting, meaning we don’t have to use your surrounding teeth as anchors and, as a result, the treatment is less invasive.

Implants are also more comfortable, don’t affect your speech or the way you eat, are incredibly durable, don’t have to be removed for cleaning and can improve your self-esteem by restoring your smile to its former glory.

You won’t believe the difference.

What to Expect During Treatment

The procedure for multiple implants is exactly the same as it is for a single implant, only it’s performed in two or more areas.

We place multiple titanium screws in the areas needing teeth, allow them to heal and then create and place your new permanent crown.

When the treatment is complete- usually in about 3 month’s time, your new teeth will look, act and feel almost exactly like your other teeth- in fact, it’s the closest alternative to natural teeth available.

The Process

What to Expect During Treatment

Some people loose teeth in the back of the mouth. This can be caused by gum problems (periodontitis) or broken down teeth or by teeth cracking due to previous fillings.
Between two and four dental implants are installed for a dental implant bridge. This solution does not affect your own teeth. The bridge will function for many years, regardless of the condition of your existing teeth
Abutments are attached to each dental implant. The next step is to fit the bridge; the new set of teeth is placed on the abutments and look like natural teeth.
The dental implant bridge is now in place and can withstand the strong chewing forces that occur in the back of the mouth. It feels and functions like your natural teeth.

FAQs

Do implants hurt?
During the placing of the titanium screw, we use a local anaesthetic so you won’t feel any pain apart from some minor discomfort for a few days after. This is usually caused by the stitches and the normal healing process and should go away quickly on its own.
Implants are very safe and can potentially last several years when cared for properly and regularly. Dental implants are one of the most successful tooth replacement treatments available and if you look after them properly, it will make a real difference to their longevity.
If you have questions about implants we invite you to schedule a consultation with your North Hill dentist who will ask you about your medical history and other relevant questions. They will then perform a full examination of your mouth and remaining teeth before taking x-rays. If everything looks good and healthy, your dentist will start the process of scheduling your implant treatment.
